Lobster Sign Vandalized In Front of First Church

The Lobster sign that was assembled by Clinton residents to help advertise the upcoming lobster dinner at the First Church in Clinton's 60th Annual Summer Fair was found ruined last week.

As the First Church in Clinton geared up for their 60th Annual Summer Fair this coming Friday and Saturday they put up a hand crafted lobster sign to advertise their their lobster dinner. But, when volunteers assembled Monday night to continue preparations, they were disheartened to see the lobster sign nearly ruined.

According to Clinton resident Josh Snow, who's involved in the Fair, "the wooden body was badly bent and a claw was broken entirely away and thrown to the ground." The sign was skillfully created by Clinton residents Paul McKeon and artist Bob Langer.

But, despite the vandalism, church member and volunteers are continuing their preparations for this week's celebration.

“We are excited to have over 50 vendors and artisans signed up to exhibit for both Friday and Saturday," Les Brown, chairman for this year’s fair, said in a press release. "In addition, we’ve added numerous entertainment options for families, including a visit from the Hammonasset Nature Center animals, Touch-a-Truck, a magic show with Bob Hale, and music by The Engine Room.  The fair’s highlight this year will be a lobster dinner, prepared by Lenny and Joe’s of Madison, held Saturday, August 10th.”

Tickets for the lobster dinner are still available, and must be purchased in advance.  Contact the church office (860-669-5735) for tickets.
