This Saturday Is Your Day To Give Back….

Stop By Clinton Stop & Shop Saturday, Sept. 10 For An Annual Food Drive For Families Helping Families

At in Clinton from 10am to 2:30pm this Saturday, Sept. 10, is sponsoring its annual food drive to benefit the Clinton Food Pantry. Their shelves are depleted.

Families Helping Families is a non-profit Clinton organization that helps those in need by collecting food and money for fuel assistance. It is run by all volunteers.

Needed items include, but are not limited to:  fruit juices, canned fruit, cereal, oatmeal, healthy snacks, high protein items like beans, tuna fish and peanut butter.

Did you know that food stamps don't pay for other necessities such as cleaning supplies (laundry and dish detergent, cleanser, bleach) or toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine products)? These items are deeply appreciated by our neighbors in need.

Be on the lookout for Buy One - Get One Free promotions--you can donate your freebie to the pantry.

Families Helping Families will gladly accept cash donations for fuel assistance. Oil prices have skyrocketed and cash donations will help to keep both the elderly and families with children warm this winter. The First Selectman's Office and Clinton Social Services administer these donations, so everyone can be assured that their generosity aids Clinton residents.

We've all survived the temporarily unsettled days of "Irene." Saturday can be your day to reach out to your neighbors who struggle to find a return to the normal.
