Rotary Presents 100th Anniversary Gift To CVFD

An engraved copper fire extinguisher was the surprise gift at a recent fire department meeting.

At the (CVFD's) meeting January 9, there was a special gift presented to the department from the .

The gift, an engraved copper fire extinguisher, marked the 100th anniversary of the CVFD which was in 2011.

Dee Tully of Rotary said the bond between the Clinton Rotary Club and the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department is a very strong one.

"We cherish our friends who risk their lives. We work perfectly together in many ongoing events," she stated.

At last year's celebration of the CVFD's 100th anniversary, Robert Voss served as chief of the all-volunteer department as he had since 2009. This year, Frank Schrempp was elected chief.

Rotarian Jim Beardsley and his donated $500 to the CVFD.

The special gift also marks the memory of past CVFD Chief Dan Vece, Jr. who died last April.
