Halloween Candy Buyback

Recycle your kid's Halloween candy and feel good about it! Here's how:

A message from the office of Jeffrey LaMura, DDS, LLC of Clinton:

The National Center for Health Statistics reports that, “fifteen percent of children ages 6 to 18 are overweight. A simple step like reducing sugar intake is an easy way to help curb the obesity epidemic.”

  • Dental caries (tooth decay) is the single most common chronic childhood disease.
  • Tooth Decay is 5 times more common than asthma and 7 times more common than hay fever.
  • More than 51 million school hours are lost each year to dental-related illness.
  • Pain and suffering due to untreated diseases can lead to problems in eating, speaking, and attending to learning.

Armed with this information Dr. Jeffrey LaMura, a general dentist in Clinton, is participating in the Halloween Candy Buy Back for the third year. This is a great way to recycle your child’s Halloween candy and feel good about it.  The donated candy is shipped to our service members serving overseas through a program called Operation Gratitude. This simple gesture forges lasting relationships with the children and adults in these foreign communities and helps cheer our troops.

You can help by joining Dr. LaMura in making a difference in our children’s health.

How does this work?

Please have your child bring their wrapped Halloween candy to school after Halloween during the week of November 1 – 4.

On Friday November 4, Dr. LaMura and his dental hygienist will collect the donated candy from the classrooms. The classroom with the most donated candy will win a pizza party for their class.

The children are also encouraged to write a note to a soldier to enclose with the candy shipment. The UPS Store in Clinton, operated by Jeff VanFlatern, will be handling shipping the donated candy to Operation Gratitude in California for the third year. Operation Gratitude will then ship the candy to our service members.

Thank you for making a difference in our children’s health.
