The smell of sweet chocolate and crisp and chewy delights permeates throughout your house. Waiting patiently as the timer winds down slowly. Anxiety fills you as you’re anticipating the finish time has almost arrived.

However growing up, not every child has the opportunity to bake a decadent dessert. According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 10,000 kids under the age of 16 are given the grave news that they have cancer.

Though the disease is not completely preventable, Tess Hallowell and myself are trying to “take a bite” out of that number.

Every year I support different charities by filling the local citizen’s stomachs with tasty treats. Over the years I have raised over $850.00 for The Great American Bake Sale and Cookies for Kids Cancer organizations.

Later in April we will be hosting another bake sale to support Cookies for Kids Cancer. I was inspired by this charity because I know many people are facing or have faced the tough fight against cancer.

Cookies for Kid’s Cancer is an organization that was started by a mom whose child was suffering from Leukemia. Her devotion has helped over 30,000 kids get proper treatment and help their families pay for the hospital bills. This exceptional charity donates all the proceeds to cancer research, medicine development, hospital bills, and hospitals specializing in children’s cancer. If you would like more information on this organization please go to www.cookiesforkidscancer.org.

This year I hope to raise over $300.00. We will be selling a wide variety of delicious delights ranging from cookies and cupcakes to home-made taffy. There will also be a raffle going on as well, where you could win amazing cookbooks.

The bake sale will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00am to 6:45pm, in Guilford. Follow the signs off exit 59 and you will be able to reach the sale.

Tess Hallowell and myself hope that as many people as possible will show up to help us support this charity.

If you would like any more information please go to www.cookiesforkidscancer.org or www.koozieskitchen.com.

We ask everyone that can take the time out of their busy day to come and donate or sink their teeth into a dessert to help a child struggling with a terrible disease improve their chances of survival.
