Severe Thunderstorm Watch Starting After 3pm Today

National Weather Service says Middlesex County t-storms heaviest from 3pm to 9pm.


Get ready for some significant thunderstorms starting sometime after 3pm today till about 9pm tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a severe thunderstorm watch, air quality alert and hazardous weather outlook for the area.

According to NOAA, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9pm for the following Connecticut counties: Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland and Windam counties.

This Afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 3am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. North wind around 6 mph.
