Severe Storms Possible for Clinton Tonight

Thunderstorms and lightning are happening now along the shoreline.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning of a strong storm system expected to move through the shoreline early this evening.

In case you were thinking of heading over to the East Haven free concert on the green, it's been cancelled by the mayor's office.

Heavy Rainfall, Flooding Possible

Additionally, a separate second line of storms continue to make their way toward Connecticut from the west, which could impact the shoreline later tonight and into early Monday morning.

The weather service reports locally heavy rainfall is possible with these storms.

"Any areas experincing this could have minor poor drainage and urban flood," the meterologists stated in their report.

They added that "localized flash flooding is also possible."

"Especially if any location receives more than one bout of heavy rainfall in a relatively short period of time," the service stated.

EXTENDED FORECAST

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a low around 71 degrees. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87 degrees. West wind around 8 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72 degrees. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.
