Student Jessie Warren Keep Us In The Know With Events At The School

Smile Week

The Positive School Climate Committee at Morgan has teamed up with the Morgan Assets Committee to create events that will form a sense of community in school. May 9th to the 13th was Smile Week; everyone was extra nice to others and showed them complete respect and kindness. The greatest part about Smile Week is that it was created completely by the students. It’s nice to know a few students have stepped up to the plate and are trying to improve the school atmosphere for everyone. Students were walking around the halls with friendly smiles on their faces as well as big, yellow smiley face buttons! On Thursday, many students wore yellow to promote the message of cheerfulness even more!

Benefit Concert

On May 13th, Jess Pierpoint, a 2010 graduate from Morgan, put on a benefit concert in The Gagnon Auditorium. Although she is no longer a Morgan student, Jess needed to keep the tradition alive. The tickets were five dollars per student and all the proceeds went to the American Cancer Society and Be the Match Foundation. Not only was this concert beneficial because of the great causes it supported, but the concert also supported local musicians. The venue consisted of Do Not Engage, The Model Year, Raymond Pierpont, Rebecca Raymond, Serendipity, Ragweed, Chris Jump and Ben Morrison. The event raised more than $1,200 in all.

Tag Sale

The parents of Morgan seniors have been hard at work lately. Every year, they are in charge of rounding up a group of parents to plan the graduation party. Usually, these parties cost up to $35,000! Because of this large expense and the fact that money just doesn’t grow on trees, these dedicated parents gather donations of unwanted items and host a giant tag sale; this year’s was May 14th and there were 220 people waiting in line as the doors opened at 9am.
