Morgan Cake Throw Down

Morgan’s annual Cake Thrown Down was held last Thursday the 14th. Five teams from Mrs. Nunan’s Foods II cooking classes concocted their own creative cake ideas. The first place winner was a decadent Chocolate-y-Cream Cheesecake topped with raspberries made by Sally Levenduski, Mollie Simmons, Becca Farrow and Meredith Hile. The second place winners; Matt Granfield, Angela LaMark and Justin Santamaria made a colorful Taste The Rainbow cake. The third place winners were Ryan Caprio, Mike Nuzzo and Joey Verdone for their Oreo Cheesecake. The contestants had two days and three class periods to work on these masterpieces. Many teachers were able to taste test the cakes and the winners were decided by taste and appearance. Great work everyone!

Spirit Night

One of the most memorable nights students have at Morgan is the SADD Spirit Night. The Students Against Destructive Decisions organization holds fun and safe activities throughout the year as alternatives to making poor choices. In the past, this club has held haunted houses and fairs. Spirit Night is an opportunity for Morgan Students to stay in the school and hang out with their friends, while doing fun activities created by SADD. There will be Capture the Flag, movies, dodge ball, hippity hops, raffles and food. The event is held May 6 from 8pm to 5am the next morning. Students can pick up permission slips in the office.

AP Exams

Advanced Placement classes are for Juniors and Seniors who want to challenge themselves or really love a certain subject. At Morgan, those classes include AP Physics, AP Biology, AP US History, AP European History and AP English. At the end of each class, the students take an AP exam that covers everything in the curriculum for the year. This test is scored from 1 to 5, 5 being the highest. A score of 5 is greater than 75% correct, a 4 is greater than 60%, 3 is greater than 45%, 2 is greater than 35%. If the student receives a 3 or above on the test, it counts as a college credit. The exam this year will begin the first week of May.
