Clinton students celebrate and participate in International Walk to School Day
The crisp early morning air made walking to school fun October 5 for almost 150 Abraham Pierson School students. Local organization Bicycle Pedestrian Alliance of Clinton (BPAC) coordinated the event for the second year.
Principal Angela Guarascio was all smiles this morning as her students arrived invigorated by a group walk to school. The students, fourth and fifth graders, were escorted by BPA, the PTA, parents, teachers and volunteers from St. Mary's Church.
They walked in three groups, arriving with balloons to a snack of donated orange juice and water from Stop and Shop, Walgreens and CVS. The excitement was in the air, and rumor has it there are rewards involved.

BPAC is a relatively new organization in town founded by Debbie Lundgren. The October 5 event was to create community awareness and promote healthy community lifestyles.
BPAC has applied for grant money to develop safe routes to school as the first of its efforts in town.
