5K Run for Sandy Hook Coming to Clinton

Pierson School teachers and staff are organizing a local run to coincide with one in Hartford to support the families of the Newtown tragedy.

On Saturday, March 23, folks all over Connecticut will be running to show their support for the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The big marathon takes place in Hartford, but you don't have to go that far to participate.

Several Abraham Pierson School teachers and staff have organized a Virtual Run for the Hartford Marathon's Sandy Hook Run For The Families 5k right in Clinton.

This is a non-profit event where 100% of the proceeds (registration fees and donations) go directly to the families of those affected by the tragedy in Sandy Hook.

It is a fun-run open to everyone in any nearby town.

Anyone interested can register online through the Hartford Marathon's website, and can join those in Clinton by registering as Virtual Runners.

The event will be held March 23 at 10am. Specifics of the run (starting location, route, etc.) will follow.

Yet another example of what teachers and school staff do outside the classroom to teach our children. Making a difference is a power we all have within us. How we use that power defines us. We at Team Dawg define teachers as Everyday Heroes. Thank you!
