Teachers: No School On Monday

Superintendent of Schools Cancels Monday's Professional Development Day; Looking Closely At Tuesday's Start Of School

A message from Superintendent of Schools Jack Cross:

Given the current information about the track and magnitude of Hurricane Irene we are canceling all activities in the district from 1pm Saturday through Monday night.

I will be meeting with the Town's Emergency Response Team Saturday at 8am.

Based on the information at that time, I will be making a decision about when we will likely be able to open schools (first day of school is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30) and will notify parents and staff at that point. However, we are considering the potential for us to be without electricity for several days and may not be able to open school until the following week. Stay tuned!

For staff: due to the impending hurricane and potential power outages and clean-up, we are canceling Monday’s Professional Development and Convocation.  Buildings will be open on Saturday from 9:00am until 1pm for those who need to work in their rooms.  All schools will be closed at 1pm on Saturday and will remain closed through Monday.

We will be sending out a follow-up message to all staff and families Sunday regarding decisions about when we will open school.
