'Sticker Shock' Aims To Curb Underage Drinking
Campaign reminds adults that purchasing alcohol for minors is a criminal offense
To promote the "Sticker Shock" campaign, peer advocates from visited local package stores with adults armed with red "warning labels," the announced in a press release.
The stickers, which the volunteers added to beer and wine packages, are meant to remind adults that it is illegal to purchase alcohol for those under 21.

“Partnerships like those that exist between Morgan Peer Advocates, town liquor vendors and the First Selectman’s Task Force are important to developing a healthy community for all of us,"Partnership For Success Grant Coordinator, Kelley Edwards, said in the press release.
"With many members of the community standing together to prevent high risk situations for youth, we are bound to be successful in promoting responsible behavior."

The campaign also wishes to remind parents about the "social hosting" part of the law. The press release explains that property owners who knowingly allow the underage possession of alcohol are at fault, too.
