Preparing For The Possibility Of No School On Tuesday

The Ability To Communicate In A Power-Less Storm May Be The Key To Moving The First Day Of School

A message from Superintendent of Schools Jack Cross:

In coordination with the town’s emergency management response team and given current predictions related to Hurricane Irene, we are preparing for the possibility that school will not be open on Tuesday, August 30, and that we may be forced to delay the opening of school for several days.

Our concern is that communication with families may be impacted by the loss of power, so we want all staff and families to understand that we will be forced to keep schools closed until schools, our town and surrounding communities have primary services: power, water, transportation and communication restored.

In the event that power and key resources are restored sooner than anticipated, allowing us to open schools, we will notify staff and families as soon as possible prior to opening schools. Please continue to monitor all usual communication sources, TV, Radio, websites and internet.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this very unpredictable storm. Please be safe.
