Karcich and Dombi Make A Difference For Joel Students

Both Men Honored At Connecticut Association Of Schools Annual Program Recognition Banquet

John Dombi and Derek Karcich were honored at the Connecticut Association of Schools Annual Program Recognition Banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington Nov. 21 for the outstanding work and contribution they have made to the Joel Elementary School in Clinton.

For years, Dombi and Karcich have promoted Project Adventure and Rollerblading on their own initiative and time by providing students with these opportunities outside of their normal physical education classes.

Both non-traditional physical education activities occur within an atmosphere that is fun, supportive and challenging. Project Adventure is a course that blends low and high activities presented in a prescribed sequence and designed to take students beyond their own expectations or perceived willingness to try. Non- competitive games, group problem – solving initiatives, and ropes course events are the principle activities utilized to help individuals reach their goals.
