Join Morgan Students in a "26 Acts of Kindness Revolution" [Video]

In honor of those who died at Sandy Hook, The Morgan School has initiated a program that "Pays in Forward" in acts of kindness. The community is invited to participate in this town-wide event.

"'No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted,' said Aesop," noted Morgan School student Shelby Church, who along with student Patrick McAllister, has helped others at the school and community kick-start a revolution.

It's called the "26 Acts of Kindness" and is a school-wide and town-wide program that asks folks to make a special effort to do 26 nice things for their fellow citizens from now until Memorial Day. And, to make it even more memorable, to record what they did and post it on bulletin boards around town.  The bulletin boards are set up at all four schools and the Henry Carter Hull Library.

"Let's be part of a greater cause," said Morgan School Principal Keri Hagness as she spoke to a school-wide assembly March 1. "Let's go out and take this challenge."

Hagness recognized the two Morgan teachers responsible for starting the revolution: Laura Luther and Shannon Robinson.

"Let's 'Pay it Forward' and see how one healing spirit can branch out to others," said Robinson, who referenced the movie that illustrated how one small act of kindness can reverberate through a community.

Superintendent of Schools Jack Cross said he was pleased that the program is being initiated at the high school.

"You never know what the repercussions of kindness are for others," he said. "Of all the things we do, acts of kindness ultimately elevate us all to make this a better world."

First Selectman Willie Fritz said, "Doing good makes you feel good. Let's all feel good about ourselves and others around us."
