Eliot School Window Replacement On Schedule for Start of School

Clinton Public Works is on track to be substantially finished with the project when school opens in the fall.

The 6th grade wing at the Eliot School is getting new window walls and new and upgraded heating units this summer in a project that is being monitored by the Town Municipal Building Committee.

The total budget for the project, which started last September, is $526,900, including design. The monies are comprised of funds appropriated in Town Capital Plan and funds appropriated from the last Town wide bonding package.

"The windows that are being replaced were single pane windows," said Peter Neff, Director of Clinton's Department of Public Works. "Those are being replaced by new, more energy efficient windows. We are also adding insulation to the window walls as well."

Neff also stated they had replaced some cabinets around the school during their time on site, as well as upgraded heating units.

"Additionally, there used to be doors that led out from the classrooms," Neff added. "Those have been eliminated during this project to increase security."

"We plan for the window project to be substantially complete when school opens in the fall," said Neff. "We have not really run into any surprises during the project, so we've been able to stay on track."
