Town and Board of Ed Budgets Pass in Clinton

Town budget passes with 1,598 'yes' votes to 1,436 'no' votes. Board of Ed budget passes with 1,582 'yes' votes to 1,448 'no' votes.

After a failed first referendum vote, both the Town and Board of Ed budgets passed today, May 22, at the town's second referendum. 

The town's budget in the amount of $15,211,584 million passed with 1,598 'yes' votes to 1,436 'no' votes. The Board of Ed budget in the amount of $31,309,290 passed with 1,582 'yes' votes to 1,448 'no' votes. 

2,994 votes were cast, in addition to 42 absentee ballots and one hand count vote. 

"This has been a tough couple of weeks," said First Selectman William Fritz. "We had to make some hard decisions. This is the voters town, their services and their children, and they came out and supported it."
