The town received 24-36 inches of snow yesterday and overnight and it's still snowing!

The storm has moved away but left between 24 to as much as 36 inches in Town. This is a heavy snow so please use caution when clearing it.

At this time crews are out but roads are extremely slippery, we have all roads passable and will be enlisting the help of local contractors to assist in the cleanup.

Please stay off the roads. It makes our job much more difficult if our crews encounter vehicles while plowing.

CL&P is reporting 650 outages in town and crews are moving in to begin restoration efforts.

Please take precautions if using portable generators fumes from these can be deadly and back feeding of lines could injure crews working to restore power. Also if you have gas fireplaces or fire logs make sure the external vents are not obstructed.

A parking ban is in effect at least until Sunday afternoon. There are no activities at any of the schools on today and the Henry Carter Hull Library is closed. Our dispatch center is always open and can be reached for non-emergencies by calling 860-669-0451, if it is an emergency dial 911.

Thank You.
