Primary Voting Light So Far In Clinton

7.5% of those who could vote have come to the polls before noon today. More Democrats than Republicans are voting, say Registrar of Voters.

 

Voting was steady, but light so far in today's primary in Clinton. 

Registrars of Voters June Hansen (D) and Wendy McDermott (R) said that 355 people had come in to vote just before noon.

Since there are 2,259 registered Republicans and 2,480 registered Democrats in town, that's only 355 people out of 4,739 eligible to vote in today's primary.

That's 7.49 percent.

By the way, there are 4,279 unaffiliated voters in Clinton for a total of 9,018 registered voters.

As of just before noon, 181 Republicans had already voted and 204 Democrats had voted.

Clinton voter Jim Beardsley said "he always comes out to vote," and wished more people would come out for the primaries as came out for the new Morgan School vote.

"I voted for Chris Shays," said Beardsley. "This is the fourth time I've voted for  him."

Valentina DeCosta said she and her husband came together to vote in the primary because it was important for them to cast their vote.

"We try to come out for every vote," said DeCosta. "Remember, you can't complain if you didn't vote."

If you are a Republican:

U.S. Senator:  Vote for Linda McMahon or Christopher Shays

Representative in Congress: Vote for Paul Formica or Daria Novak

 

If you are a Democrat:

U.S. Senator: Vote for Christopher Murphy or Susan Bysiewicz

State Senator: Vote for James Crawford or Mary Ellen Klinck
