Mandatory Evacuation Ordered For Parts of Clinton

In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy and following Sunday morning's meeting of the Emergency Response Team, parts of Clinton most vulnerable to storm surges must evacuate by 9pm tonight.

 

Residents in certain areas of Clinton are under a mandatory evacuation per the Emergency Response Team and Town of Clinton's orders.

They need to evacuate by 9pm Sunday night, Oct. 28.

Mandatory evacuation includes those who live in these areas:

Cedar Island, Shore Road from number 64/65 east to Causeway, Causeway and Groveway east to number 29/22.

Residents should make preparations and leave by 9:00pm tonight. All other residents in low lying areas should consider evacuating. During the storm emergency personnel may not have access to many areas and residents' safety will be at risk.

Residents in the mandatory evacuation areas received this notice from the town:

THE TOWN OF CLINTON IS ORDERING MANDATORY EVACUATION OF YOUR AREA BY 9:00PM TONIGHT, SUNDAY, October 28, 2012, BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING IMPACTS FROM HURRICANE SANDY. IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO EVACUATE PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF THIS NOTIFICATION BY SIGNING BELOW OR CALLING THE CLINTON EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS CENTER AT 860-669-0451.
