Clinton's Finance Director Leaving Post

Kevin Kane, the town and Board of Education Finance Director for just under two years, has resigned.

 

It was a tough decision, said Clinton Finance Director Kevin Kane, but he recently resigned from his town position for a new job closer to his family and residence.

The New Britain resident, who commuted 35+ miles each way to work in Clinton, said he resigned "for family reasons" much of it due to the commute and being away from his youngest child.

He has taken a new position with the New Britain education system.

to replace outgoing finance director Rosemary Hanson, said it was a "tough decision" to leave the town, but has "no regrets" coming here.

"Clinton is a great place to be," said Kane. "I needed to be here more than they needed me."

Kane, who was the director of finance and treasurer for the town of Simsbury for many years, also served for two years as finance director in Branford.

Kane's role was a dual one: managing the finances for both the town of Clinton and the Board of Education.

Kane said his last day is November 27, and will begin his new position immediately. His position has been advertised, he said, and an internal search committee composed of Board of Education members, the superintendent and first selectman, among others, will begin interviewing qualified candidates soon.

Job Posting - Finance Director/business Manager

We are searching for a talented and energetic professional to serve as the Town's Finance Director/Business Manager. This position performs complex professional and administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the financial activities of the Town and Board of Education as well as related work as required.

The preferred candidates will have a bachelor's in accounting or related field supplemented by a master's degree in business administration or related field and extensive experience in public finance administration. Consideration may be given to equivalent experience and training. Must have and maintain, or obtain within one year of employment, School Business Manager certification (SDC 85).
