A Couple of Cancellations Due to the Nor'easter

Here's what you need to know now about the Nor'easter that has hit the shoreline - some events are cancelled, others are not.

 

Update as of 4:45pm - the Henry Carter Hull Library is closing at 5pm tonight due to the Nor'easter.

Mother Nature is scolding the Northeast again, this time not a hurricane, but a freak Nor'easter. The town of Clinton and surrounding towns have been hit by a blast of cold air, snowflakes, and a wintry mix.

Here's an update from town and school officials:

The Schools:

No early dismissals are planned

All after-school activities today are cancelled

The Shoreline Championship Game for Volleyball has been cancelled

The Town:

The public hearing on the Zoning Ordinance at Clinton Town Hall tonight, 6:30pm, has been cancelled.

There will be no Board of Selectmen's meeting tonight (previously cancelled)

The town has not cancelled the postponed trick or treating

Updated Forecast for Clinton:

NOAA reports a high wind warning, coastal flood warning and hazardous weather warning for Middlesex County

  • Today -  Rain and snow. High near 39. Windy, with a north wind around 31 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Tonight -   Rain and snow. Low around 36. Windy, with a north wind around 31 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Thursday -  Periods of rain and snow before 3pm, then a chance of rain. High near 45. Windy, with a north wind 21 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Thursday Night -  Mostly clear, with a low around 31. Blustery, with a northwest wind 17 to 21 mph.

The contractor has finished installing the new drainage crossings to handle the storm water on theRead More road surface. We are waiting for the paving contractor to start reclaiming and milling the road in preperation for new asphalt. The catchbasin tops will be installed just prior to repaving when the milling and reclaiming work is completed.
