Police say Rivera would launder the money by going to each store and buying something of low value in the $15 to $20 range and pay with the fake $100 bill and receive the change back and the merchandise.

Investigating officer Sgt. Robert Sepega noted that Rivera was arrested on Dec. 6 and charged with three charges of Forgery 1st degree section 53a-138 and Larceny 6th degree section 53a-125b of the Connecticut General Statutes. She was held on a $75,000 and appeared before the Middletown Superior Court on December 7.
