Two Westbrook Men Head To Court For Alleged Alpaca Killings

Four of the animals stabbed to death at Ivoryton farm.

Just a hop away from Clinton in the little town of Ivoryton is a farm called Applesauce Acres.

It is there, reports WTNH News, that two men from Westbrook allegedly stabbed four alpacas. The men, Shawn Malcarne, 23 and Kyle Rossetti, 21, were in Middletown Superior Court April 17.

Malcarne, according to WTNH, had nothing to say to news crews outside the courthouse. He is charged with conspiracy to commit animal cruelty and burglary, the news station reports.

His co-defendant, Rossetti, who is on probation for criminal mischief and breach of peace convictions and who has an outstanding warrant for simple assault out of South Carolina, is charged with burglary and the more serious animal cruelty charge, reported WTNH.

It appears that Rossetti allegedly killed the alpacas purely for sport, reported WTNH. He was ordered held on $75,000 bond.

Malcarne was released on a promise to appear.
