Two Clinton 19-Year Olds Arrested Over The Weekend In Drug Bust

A Clinton Police officer working extra duty on a state-funded DUI grant saw the teens hanging outside of a fast traveling vehicle.

 

Just after midnight on this Labor Day weekend, Clinton Police Officer Greg Matakaetis, working extra duty on a state-funded DUI grant, conducted a stop on a vehicle after he observed it traveling at a high rate of speed on Glenwood Road.

He also observed the passengers of the vehicle riding on the outside of it, said police.

The officer's investigation lead to the discovery of a substantial amount of controlled substances consisting of 45 "hash pills," hashish, multiple bottles of liquid THC (liquid marijuana) and a small portion of marijuana, according to police. 

These items were located under the front passenger seat, said police.

The front seat passenger, Simon Ames, 19, of High Street in Clinton claimed the items as his, said police. 

Ames was placed under arrest and charged in violation of possession of a controlled substance, possession/manufacture of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession of under 1/2 ounce of marijuana. 

Ames is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on September 14.

The operator the vehicle, 19-year old Christopher Jump, also of Clinton, was found in possession of marijuana.  He was cited for possession of less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana.
