Masked Gunmen Rob TD Bank in Killingworth

State police continue to investigate Monday afternoon heist along Route 81.

Update (6:30 p.m.)

Two men armed with guns and wearing masks robbed a TD Bank branch in Killingworth Monday afternoon.

Killingworth State Trooper Sgt. Sal Calvo said the individuals went into the bank, located at 184 Route 81 in Killingworth, around 3:30 p.m. Following the armed robbery the suspects took off in a white Scion, which Calvo said was dumped a short distance away from the scene.

Multiple state troopers and detectives are still at the bank and they continue to investigate. Calvo said further updates should be available later.

Several people identified as bank tellers and victims were seen outside the bank around 6 p.m. Monday. Multiple state trooper vehicles also blocked off access and yellow tape was strung around the bank perimeter.

It's unclear whether anyone was hurt, however there have been no reports of injuries.

NBC Connecticut reported earlier Monday that the gunmen tied up customers and employees during the robbery.

The Middletown Press has identified the suspects as being in their 20s and around 5 feet, 7 inches tall.

Do we know what direction these individuals drove? Towards Durham or Clinton/Madison?!?

We know they abandoned the car on Chittenden Road, but that's as far as we know. Police didn't give any direction and updates were slim following the bank robbery. Check back with us tomorrow as we'll stay on this story. - RD, associate regional editor

I bank at this location and have always feared for the workers' safety inside. I know they recently remodeled and can't imagine how they will be able to make it more secure, minus an armed guard full-time. Personal access to bank staff is a speciality of TD. A branch I use sometimes when in NYC on business has a full-time off-duty policeman on-site. Horribly frightening for all involved.
