In the early morning hours of June 1, Clinton Police Department officers responded to a report of a violent domestic call between a couple on Uncas Road. The notice was called in by a third party.
Officers determined that the alleged male offender, Michael Simeone, 32, had grabbed the female victim by the throat and allegedly attempted to strangle her. The victim was able to break free by fighting off Simeone, said police.
Further investigation revealed fresh blood splatters on a wall and a laceration to the alleged victim’s head. Officers then located a heavy metal flashlight with blood on it. It was determined that the victim was struck in the head with the flashlight, said police.
The victim was sent to a medical facility to be treated for her injuries. It is unknown at this time if she was admitted.
Simeone was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree, strangulation in the second degree and disorderly conduct.
He is being held on a $5,000 bond for an arraignment today at Middlesex Superior Court.
