No Jurors Picked This Week for Komisarjevsky Trial

Jury Selection Heads Into The Fourth Week On Monday

Jury selection for the trial of Joshua Komisarjevsky ended for the week Thursday without any jurors selected.

Judge Jon C. Blue, the trial judge, held selection proceedings on just three days this week; canceling it on Monday to tend to a personal matter, and following a set schedule of not holding any proceedings on Fridays.

So far, only three jurors have been selected since the first day of jury selection on March 16. Needed are 12 jurors, six alternates and three backup alternates.

Most of the jurors sent home Thursday were excused by the judge because he felt it would be a financial hardship for them to sit on the jury for the lengthy trial, or because they said they could not decide the case only on the evidence.

Three were dismissed with peremptory challenges - two by the defense and one by the state.

Komisarjevsky, 30, faces the death penalty if he is found guilty of capital felony murder and other charges related to the Cheshire home invasion in 2007.

His co-defendant, Steven Hayes, 47, was convicted in a separate trial last year and sentenced to be executed.
