Update: Morgan School Goes Into Temporary Lockdown

On October 28 at 11 a.m., school authorities at The Morgan School alerted Clinton Police and reported a direct threat against the school.

A 17-year old male student was threatening to use a weapon, said police. The threat was not directed to any person or persons.

The student was immediately arrested and charged with threatening in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree. The student was taken into custody and transported to the Clinton Police Department where he is currently being held on a $5,000.00 bond.

As a precaution, The Morgan School was placed into a “modified” lock down.

Police explained that a modified lock down means you stay in class and not leave that classroom to go to your next class.  No one is allowed to leave or enter the school building except the authorities.

Clinton Police with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit and their canine unit conducted a search of the school to ensure the school was free of any hazards to the school population.

No weapons were found.

Once the search was concluded, students were dismissed for the day. The lock down lasted about one and a half hours, said police.

Clinton School Superintendent Jack Cross worked closely with Clinton and State Police to address this concern and to ensure the safety of the students and school personnel.

Due to his age, the student's name was not released, said police.
