Missing Clinton Hiker Found Wednesday Morning

Jeremy Maione, a 35-year-old Clinton resident, went hiking Tuesday night and was reported missing early Wednesday morning. Clinton Police, along with their canine "Ace," actively tracked the missing hiker until he was located around 9 AM Wednesday.

The following information was provided by Clinton Police Sgt. Jeremiah Dunn.

At 7:11 AM July 31, the Clinton Police Department was notified of a missing hiker who went hiking Tuesday evening in the forest/woods off of Chittenden Hill Road in the area of Lindera Lane. The hiker, who has been identified as 35-year-old Jeremy Maione of Clinton, was actively tracked Wednesday morning by police until he was located around 9 AM.

Police say that while hiking Maione became disoriented. Maione called his father Tuesday night around 10:45 PM, to tell him that his battery on his cell phone was running very low and he was going to camp where he was for the night. He told his father that he intended to get re-orientated in the morning after sun rise, police say.

According to Police, shortly after 9 AM Wednesday morning, Maione made it to a private residence on Kelseytown Road in the town of Killingworth and called his father.

Clinton Police, along with canine “Ace,"  were actively searching for Maione at that time. Sgt. Dunn stated in an email to Patch that "Police tracked Mainone’s course of travel and arrived at the same home in Killingworth just moments after Maione had arrived there himself."
