Hammonasset Beach State Park Closed Off For Ongoing Investigation

State Police helicopter appeared to be flying over beach in search pattern.

Hammonasset Beach State Park has been closed off since about 1 p.m. Thursday for an ongoing investigation.

A police officer posted at the entrance of the park is telling visitors that the park is closed today and will not be open until Friday.

A helicopter, which appeared to be from the state police, was flying over the beach area in a search pattern Thursday afternoon.

Madison Police Commander John Rich, along with Madison police detectives, were on the scene for a period of time Thursday afternoon and then left.

Several state police cars were entering and exiting the park, as were other vehicles driven by people working in the park on unrelated business, including mosquito control.

When will the colonel of the State Police leak info about this?

According to the NHRegister they are searching for a 50ish male whose family reported he might be in distress and suicidal.

We pay taxes for state parks to be available. For them to close the entire park is inappropriate and highhanded . Another case of "hide the ball" as with Newtown.
