DUI at the Drive-Thru: Clinton Police Arrest Woman with 2-Year-Old in the Car

Clinton McDonalds employees contacted police after observing a woman who appeared to be intoxicated and who had a small child in the car with her.

The call was made at approximately 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. Clinton police responded and found Springfield, Mass. resident Michelle Dion, 28, of 23 Mystic St., in the drive-thru lane with a two-year-old baby in the car, according to Sgt. Jeremiah Dunn.

Officers determined that Dion was extremely intoxicated and she was arrested for DUI and charged with risk of injury to a minor.

The child was taken into protective custody and brought to the Clinton Police Station, Dunn said in the release.

The Department of Children and Families was notified and is conducting an independent investigation into the matter, he said. The child was turned over to a family member.

Dion is currently being held at Clinton PD on a $1,000 bond. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, July 17, at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
