Clinton Resident Allegedly Assaults State Trooper
Nicholas J. Campanaro, 21, of 10 Twin Oaks LN in Clinton, was charged with allegedly punching a Trooper "in the chest with a closed fist," as the Trooper was attempting to break up a fight between Campanaro and another subject.
The following information was provided by Troop F's public arrest logs. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
According to the CT State Police Arrest Log, 21-year-old Clinton resident Nicholas J. Campanaro, of 10 Twin Oaks LN, was charged with assaulting a public safety officer, breach of peace, and interfering with an officer.
The Police document states that on May 11, Campanaro was involved "in a physical altercation with another subject." When the Trooper attempted to break up the fight, Campanaro allegedly "punched the Trooper in the chest with a closed fist," according to Troop F's record.
Campanaro was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and was given a court date of May 28 at Middletown Superior Court.
The arresting officer was Paul Comesanas.
