Clinton Police Citizens Academy Graduates 29 Participants

On May 21, Clinton Police Citizens Academy awarded 29 citizens certificates for their participation in the 10-week course.

The following press release was provided by the Clinton Police Department:

On Tuesday May 21st, Twenty-Nine participants of the 2013 Clinton Police Citizens Academy were awarded certificates for their participation in the course. For ten consecutive weeks, these citizens were lectured on law enforcement topics ranging from General Patrol procedures, DUI, Domestic Violence, Criminal Investigations, Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure, Use of Force and many more. 

Several guest speakers which included a superior court judge, state prosecutors and defense attorneys from within the Judicial System also lectured as part of the course. Participants in the class were also afforded the opportunity to go out on patrol with Clinton Police Officers, as well as getting the opportunity to shoot firearms at the police firing range. 

The class runs annually from March to May and meets once a week for approximately two to three hours a night. A 2014 session of this course is anticipated next spring. 

The class is coordinated by Clinton Police Sergeant Jeremiah Dunn.
