The Board of Education budget goes again before the taxpayers at a referendum on June 4.
Does anyone really buy the notion that defeating the Board of Education budget will somehow “harm students”?
Over the last two years, cumulative Education budgets surpluses have added up to a $1.5 million surplus. If you had huge surpluses in your household budgets year after year, would you just keep spending more and more?

From what I hear, households in Clinton are on very tight budgets with no room for surplus. With basic household expenses like health insurance, food and utilities going up this is not the time to pad the Board of Education budget so that there is again another large surplus. This creates a slush fund for the Board of Education which does absolutely nothing to benefit any student. It just benefits the whims of the bureaucrats at the top.
The padded budget adds 11 full time equivalents to staff while enrollment is projected to drop 22 students. Does that make sense?

Please send a message to the Board of Education. Stop needlessly squeezing taxpayers. Oversized budgets that produce huge surpluses are causing a real hardship on the taxpayer. This can only stop if we vote NO and stop this spiral of out of control spending.
Remember, you can vote if you pay property taxes in Clinton, even if it is just auto taxes.
The Clinton Taxpayers Association is the only voice in Clinton that has had the courage to stand up for you. Together, we can prevail. Vote NO, June 4. Polls are open from 6:00 am to 8 pm.
