This letter is written by Jane Scully Welch:
I’ve heard many promises from politicians to serve the public’s best interests. Rarely are they fulfilled. I’m proud to say that my state representative, Jim Crawford, keeps his promises. He has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he remembers where he comes from, understands the needs of the district, and stays in close touch with the people who elected him.
Jim spent a 37-year career in the classroom talking to students about commitment, responsibility, integrity, and respect. As a social studies teacher, he instilled in young people the need to carefully research issues and thoughtfully analyze information. Inspiring hundreds of his students over the years, he has reinforced the volunteerism in our towns. I meet adults on a regular basis who are Jim’s former students actively engaged in the life of their communities giving back their time and talents. Without these generous folks how different our towns would be.
We have the opportunity to expand Jim Crawford’s reach. We can make his voice a more prominent one on the state level. His ideas on education reform, job creation, infrastructure initiatives, and protecting our most vulnerable citizens will be heard by a wider audience. We can share Jim with others because we know he will always be one of us. As State Senator Jim Crawford, he will be our answer to the pressing needs Connecticut must address in restoring our state to prominence. Please remember to vote for Jim on August 14th!
