n his?nPropane proposal a danger to residents

There has been much written about the Guilford propane site.

I don’t think your readers are aware of the proposed propane site that is being proposed to the Clinton Planning and Zoning for a 540,000-gallon storage facility by Global Propane LLC (Application No. 14043). This site will be approximately 10 times larger than the site in Guilford. The facility will be located at the old Stanley Bostich site on Knowlwood Drive in Clinton on the shores of the Hammonasset River. This site located in Clinton also borders Madison residents on the opposite side of the river.

The propane will be delivered to the site by rail car, then be picked up and delivered by large tanker trucks. The proposal calls for two tanker trucks per hour entering and leaving the storage facility to deliver the product. As a concerned resident of Madison in Windermere Condominiums, where we have 164 homes mainly with senior residents, we are exposed to this potential danger in our community. Are Madison and Clinton Emergency Services prepared for any potential disaster? There is a public hearing scheduled June 2 at Clinton Town Hall for residents to express their concerns. Since both towns have elected to keep this proposal under the radar, hopefully a reporter from the New Haven Register and Shoreline Times can come to the meeting.
