The informational dog park meeting will be re-scheduled to a date when all will be allowed to speak.

Tomorrow night is the regular meeting of the Park and Rec. Letters having been sent will be read into the record, but there will be no discussion at this time.

Our dog is ALWAYS on leash at the town beach and we're always scooping and transporting out with us. Same at Hammo. Amazing how many people leave their dog's poo at both places. I don't think adding a fenced-in dog park at the beach will prevent the leavers to keep leaving. And a designated poo cop? Come on! How about designating monitors? We'll be at the meeting. This can get ridiculous.

Sometimes trying to come up with a solution just makes matters worse. Like what others have said, those who do not play by the rules now are not going to abide by them because they now have a dog area. Maybe we need to leave things the way they are and enforce the laws that we have.

Please stop making excuses that this isn't safe for your kids. Is all the broken glass on the beach safe? Is the litter that blows against the unsightly torn landscape fabric fence safe for your kids? How about the syringe I found last week in the parking lot? Or the lack of life guards. It's not safe for anyone, the wildlife around us, or our furry friends. 16 stitches last summer in my 6 year old child's foot from broken glass. Yes, these are all problems everywhere but it's specifically bad in here in Clinton. It literally hurts me when I read these comments about protecting your kids from the dog park. Some people aren't fortunate enough to have a family of their own so their pets become more than just pets; their children. Some live by them selves; their protection. Some need them for health reasons; their comfort. A place other than your home (or the too small of a park off glenwood) to bring your 4 legged family members is a nice thought just not practical here at our beach. I am opposed to the dog park at the beach, it's simply not a large enough space to add such a thing. A great idea just not practical. If it were a large space like Hammonasset with an area dedicated to dogs then great. But people, please stop using silly excuses of why this is a bad idea and please please be kinder to one another. Just because you may not have a dog of your own (MARK) please try not to forget that they are more than dogs to some people. And EVERYONE please follow all the rules and laws here in our town. NO dogs off the leash, NO littering and BE NICE to one another.

Bekinder, Please don't be offended. 16 stitches on a 6 year old is cause for serious concern. We are largely in agreement on this subject. Best.

Last June there was an article written on Patch where the BOS shot down the proposal to ban dogs from the Town Beach during the summer months. At the end of the article there was mention of ordering signs and dog stations be put up. I haven't noticed if that was done or not. I am guessing since the dog ban got shot down, this is the new proposal? As it stands now, my understanding is dogs on a leash shorter than 10' are allowed on the beach. So this dog park would be built to curb the behavior of the people that are violating the ordinance already in place by having their dogs unleashed at the beach and/or not picking up after them? I must be missing something, because I honestly cannot see how this will correct the poor pet ownership habits of those that do not even follow the rules as they currently exist. Short of enforcement, this seems like it will accomplish nothing.
