Speak Out: 'Clinton's Garbage Problem'

I recently moved to Clinton and am truly disheartened to see so many litter-strewn properties with buildings in such extreme states of neglect and disrepair.

Old cars that are deteriorating in yards and probably contaminating our ground water are apparently allowed to continue to rot without issue unless someone submits a blight report.

Why is it that if someone would like to submit a blight report on a property that the property owner must be made aware of who is submitting the complaint?

I have a neighbor that just threw a mattress behind a huge rock so they don't have to see it but all the neighbors are now having to look at a disgusting rotting mattress.

I don't want to anger my neighbor but I also don't want to live in a dump.

I believe if reporting blight was allowed to be anonymous we would see an increase in reports and perhaps, hopefully, a better looking community which in turn would increase our property values.

In my former town we were able to remain anonymous and hence, had a beautiful town we were proud to live in.
