Clinton Families Helping Families Receives $1,825 Donation

Clinton’s Families Helping Families organization received a $1,825 donation in January as a result of resident participation in the Home Energy Solutions℠ (HES) program, an Energize Connecticut initiative provided by CL&P, UI and the natural gas utilities. The cost for HES is $75 for homes heating with electricity or natural gas, $99 for homes heated with fuel oil and propane, and is free for those who meet income eligibility guidelines. Residents are saving on average $250 every year on energy cost after having completed the service.

Energy vendors Energy Resource Group of North Branford and New England Smart Energy of Fairfield each agreed to donate $25 from each HES service to the Clinton Families Helping Families organization, which provides food and energy assistance to residents in Clinton.

The Clinton Energy Committee partnered with CL&P to help Clinton residents learn about the HES service, which is still ongoing and available to residents. Additionally, the committee has joined the CT Solar Challenge, a community-based program that promotes the adoption of solar energy in Connecticut through cost reduction, community outreach and education. Anyone interested in installing solar energy must first complete the HES program.
