Buyers Bypass Fixer-Upper, Want Move-in Ready

More buyers are shunning "as-is" properties in favor of homes that are in move-in condition.

Right now everyone agrees this is a buyer’s market. There is still plenty of housing inventory and the rules for getting a mortgage are stricter.

So there is definitely a lot of competition to attract a buyer. A big advantage for buyers are the rates are still low. FHA loans are under 5%. If you are in the market to buy your first home it could not be a better time.

With many houses to choose from, first-time home buyers want a nicer home and a recent Coldwell Banker survey proves it. The study found that “87 percent of first-time buyers say they desire a “move-in” ready home.”

I am working with younger buyers and I say, this is very true. They also want the house to be nicely updated.

Young couples or a single professional do not have time to spend on major renovation and multiple updates, they are willing to pay more if the house looks great.

The same is true for the couples who are downsizing, they have invested so much time and money in their home, so they do not want to do another project, so they are also looking for a nice home to downsize. There is a big demand for smaller homes that are nicely updated, around $250,00o in Clinton, the style might vary.  It is one level for older couples, or other styles for younger couples with kids as long as the bedrooms are on the same floor.

So if you are on the fence whether to put your house on the market, I hope it will help you to decide.
