25th Anniversary Wishes

Lynn Hidek and Jan Swanson celebrate 25 years of service to The Henry Carter Hull Library.

The HCH Library is pleased to celebrate the 25th anniversary of two of its extraordinary employees this year.  Lynn Hidek and Jan Swanson both started working at the library in 1986, back when the library was housed at 10 East Main St., the current home of Malone’s Coffee Shop.   Jan started in May and Lynn in June of '86.  These amazing ladies have made a big impact in the library and our community since they started.

Every child in town knows Mrs. Hidek and she knows every child, their name, their dog’s name and where they went on vacation!  Lynn goes above and beyond with Clinton’s kids, starting when they are infants.  Lynn’s Baby and Me program is a special time for parents and their babies to meet one another, learn about library resources, and make community connections.  Lynn’s story hours are magical.  She takes reading to a new level when engaging kids with books.  She is an important, regular part of every pre-school in the area and come summer reading time, Clinton’s students can’t wait for her annual visit.

Jan Swanson is a perfect example of customer service with a smile!  Jan goes the extra mile for kids and their families.  Jan has developed a system of habitats that allow her to show children - up close - the development and metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly.  Dozens of children have carefully walked out to the reading garden with one of Jan’s brand new butterflies on their finger.

These fabulous women make the HCH Children’s Room what it is today – a warm and welcoming place for Clinton’s children to come and explore, read, play and learn.  Next time you are at the library make sure you pop into the Children’s Room and congratulate Lynn and Jan for their 25 years of service to the children of Clinton and the positive changes they have made to our community.
