Decorating on a Budget

Are you dealing with "kid clutter"? You will love this blog! Enjoy! j

I wanted to write another week on kids and keeping them organized.  Awhile back I talked about designing closets but didn't talk about closets with kids in mind.  No matter what your childs age is an organized closet is a must!  Whether you have a ton of stuffed animals (why does everyone give them as a baby gift???) or enough legos to build a city, closet organization can help!

This picture (don't you love the cowboy!) shows some great ways to organize. You have a lot of shelves with areas for books, games, baskets (legos, stuffed animals!), clothes, hamper - WOW!  I do NOT recommend the color - I prefer closets to be white as it keeps a generally dark area brighter.  When you want to change things later you will not have to repaint (and with a dark color you will have a LOT of priming and painting).  I also recommend using a storage system that can be readjusted as the childs needs change.  Once your child is older you will need more hanging space for clothes and less for toys.  The adjustable rack systems they have at Lowe's or Home Depot are perfect.  You can use the wire shelving with it or the pressed wood.

Although you might not enjoy "decorating" a closet - I know you will have enjoy the room when its free of all the clutter! Have fun! j
