Counters Come of Age

Need help choosing your counter? Check out my blog! j

Are you in the process of updating your kitchen or bathroom? If so, you are in for a surprise when you get to which countertop product to use!  In the "good old days" you didn't have much of a choice except color - formica was the product that was used and most popular. The next product to gain popularity was tile - it was more durable than formica and there were lots of colors to choose from. As people learned that grout was just NOT a fun item to clean, more time and effort was put into design ideas for your counters.

Today we have a wide array to choose from. You can still use formica - inexpensive and easy to clean! Tile is still available but less likely to be seen today - even though grout products have improved. Of course, the #1 counter is granite. This is a beautiful product, easy to clean and maintain, with a wide array of color choices!  Designers have not stopped there!  There are a lot of interesting man made products available, many which use recycled products and are very green! In the picture above you see the use of concrete counters!  I know you are thinking of the front steps into many homes today - as you can see above it's a whole different product design! Other materials that are interesting are stainless steel, quartz, wood, and glass! There are so many to choose from!

When choosing, make your budget first and then have your designer help you select the best product for price and function! It can be a bit overwhelming but take a deep breath - you will have fun deciding the perfect counter! j
