‘Killingworth Light Spectacular’ Makes Final 24 of Patch’s ‘Deck the House’ Contest

The Gorski Family of Wolf Hollow Lane will receive $500 toward its December lighting bill and is still in the running for the $100,000 grand prize for RSD 17 public schools.

Congratulations to the Gorski Family of Wolf Hollow Lane in Killingworth for being named one of the Top 24 entrants in Patch’s national “Deck the House” contest for their annual “Killingworth Light Spectactular”!

The Gorskis will receive $500 toward their December electric bill, but the real prize is up to you: Vote for the Gorskis at the national “Deck the House” contest site between now and Sunday, Jan. 8, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and Regional School District 17 could win $100,000 for its schools! You can cast up to one vote per day, so remember to come back each morning through next Sunday.

For the Gorskis, the annual display of Christmas lights, which is sponsored by the Killingworth Women’s Organization, is a labor of love that benefits local charities. On opening night, Dec. 10, families explored the festive light display and visited with Santa, played reindeer mini-golf, enjoyed homemade cookies and hot cocoa and listened to live music.

This year, proceeds from opening night and donations of new, unwrapped toys went to such worthy causes as the local Toys for Tots drive, the , the at the and providing fuel to seniors and families in need in town.

So spread the news to vote for the Gorskis via Facebook, Twitter, your e-mail lists and word-of-mouth. What better holiday present could you give the kids of Regional School District 17?

As a member of KVFC Fire Police Division, I would like to say thank you to the Gorskis and KWO and all the other individuals and organizations who helped make this a success. The turnout was gratifying to see. Also, to the motorists passing through our temporary crosswalk, thanks for driving safely and patiently.
