Community Corner

Meeting of Bike & Pedestrian Alliance of Clinton

We’re all aware that modern society provides seemingly limitless access to high-calorie foods at the same time that labor-saving devices have eliminated the need for regular physical activity in our daily lives. This energy imbalance is fueling an epidemic of obesity and diabetes. The mission of the Bike & Pedestrian Alliance of Clinton is to reverse this trend. Our goal is to integrate exercise back into our community by promoting safe, active transportation options, such as walking and bicycling, for short trips and commutes into town. The benefits of such a shift include improving our health and fitness, reducing traffic congestion and pollution in our town, and helping to conserve the earth’s natural resources. We encourage all Clinton residents who would like to create a more active, healthy community to join our group. We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 pm in the back room of the Eliot House (between Town Hall and the former Police Station). For more information on BPAC, please check out our website at www.clintonct.org/bpac.htm.
