Donate Life Flag Raising

Dear Mr. William Fritz                                                                                                                     

In partnership with LifeChoice Donor Services, the federally designated, non-profit organ procurement organization serving counties in Connecticut and western Massachusetts, I am kindly requesting that the town of Clinton raise the Donate Life flag during national Donate Life Month (April). Since 2009 the flag’s across America campaign has allowed hundreds of hospitals, workplaces and communities to honor and celebrate the lives of people touched by organ and tissue donation. This initiative is meant to honor organ and tissue donors and help the community understand the importance of joining the registry.  

 I am committed to supporting this initiative in honor of the donor who saved my Life. I received a transplant in 2007 since then I  have been able  to return to a normal life without being tied down to dialysis three times a week making it impossible to travel to be with my family,  I am grateful to my donor for  his or her gift of life that has give me new found freedom. I know how much of a difference my donor has made in my life and I am forever grateful for their gift.

 Currently over 110,000 people are waiting for an organ transplant in the country and many others rely on the donation of tissues, such as bones, corneas and tendons, to restore health and quality of life. Unfortunately, as many as 18 people die each day because there are not enough organs available for transplant. If more people take action and join the Donor Registry, by simply indicating the desire on their Drivers license, more of our community will be given a second chance at life.

By Raising the donate life flag, our town of Clinton will proudly join many across the country who recognize the importance of the gift of life.
