Give the Boys a Bath Update

Thank you Willie for your kind remarks on Memorial Day. Many have asked what was completed on the Civil War monument. To date the following has been completed: The soldiers broken brim on the right side of his hat was replaced using a mixture of granite stone dust and epoxy. A new tip was replaced on the rifle which had also been broken off. The entire statue was cleaned and any pits filled. A rust mark down the left chest was removed. Large cracks around the top of the statue were also filled using the granite dust and epoxy mixture. The bronze plaque was removed, polished and replaced. Still to be completed by the town Public Works Dept. is the installation of a new chain around the statue (old one rusted) and the demolition and replacement of the crumbling concrete pad the statue sits on. Work on the bronze statues in front of Pierson will begin soon! Our goal is to be washed and waxed by the Fourth of July. Please consider a donation to "Give the Boys a Bath" care of Liberty Bank, 8 Main St., Clinton, CT 06413. Thank you!
