Board of Education Faces New Challenge

The Board of Education looks forward to generating a conversation among the townspeople to create an opportunity to correct misinformation and show the high caliber of the children in Clinton.

I recently attended a Women’s Conference sponsored by the Women and Family Life Center in Guilford and came away with more than a few points to think about.  One that stood out for me was the idea that people as they age can improve their memory and brain power by trying new things and changing up what they do on a regular basis.

“Start at the other end of the grocery store.”

“Try a new activity or challenge.”

Well, this is my attempt at a new challenge.  Blogging.  A year ago, I probably didn’t know what a blog was—and perhaps, I still don’t.  But I’m going to move forward with this endeavor anyway and hope for the best.

In the same vein, I volunteered to chair a new subcommittee for the Clinton Board of Education—Public Relations.  Based on the premise that while there are things that can be improved in our system, there are many more programs, activities and initiatives that demonstrate the commitment of our administrators and staff to our students, and the accomplishments of our students toward the goals that have been set forth in our educational plan.

To introduce you to what I hope will be a positive experience for you, the reader; for me as the writer; and ultimately, for our children, I would like to share mine and the Board of Education’s vision of what this blog will cover.

To begin with I will try to fill you in on the many exciting programs that occur every day in our schools.  I say “try” because I will only be scratching the surface because there are so many good things happening on a regular basis.

In future installments of this blog, I will announce upcoming school events, and discuss more pressing issues such as curriculum development, school nutrition,  policy revisions, technology and buildings and grounds.

I look forward to generating a conversation among our townspeople that will create an opportunity to correct misinformation and show the high caliber of the children that we have in Clinton.
